"Canada's former national chief says the Olympics are not the best forum to highlight the chronic social problems facing aboriginal communities.
Phil Fontaine is a one time head of the Assembly of First Nations who now works as an adviser to Olympic sponsor Royal Bank.
He carried the Olympic torch through part of Long Plain First Nation on Friday...

Phil Fontaine is a traitor. He's grubbing around for $$$ while the people he represented are left starving in the snow.

"Native land has been co-opted for the Games. First Nations Hosts did not have anywhere near consensus. In St'at'imc areas definitely most people were against it and the band leadership went ahead anyway, and money changed hands that went to that leadership..."

I am Aboriginal rights activist who probably disagrees with Phil Fontaine on just about every substantive and tactical issue, but I would never call him a "traitor", nor make wild exagerations about people "starving in the snow". Such exagerations and over-the-top ad hominem attacks make rationale debate impossible. Unforunately, I see lots of this on this forum.
Quite right Joey, there's a core group of sour characters here, righteousness does that to people after a time.

My dear friend conrad, E. Tamaran is no righteous character here. But continue your agenda, if not so righteous, why burden yourself here yablonski?
I am not your dear friend nor will I ever be.
Please Note- discussion isn't about me-which you'd understand if you bothered to read the thread.

Quite right, so don't come disparage this place. Your self-righteousness post was your only comment and I ain't letting it pass. Like I meant, don't use E. Tamaran to paint babble.
Too bad you don't think we could be friends.

Cheers.
