Activists and Volunteers Interested in Access and Disability Wanted

Students For Barrier-free Access (SFBA) is a University of Toronto levy funded organization which supports and advocates for students with disabilities and their allies. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, SFBA works to create a fully accessible and inclusive campus where all students have equal opportunity to learn, grow, and socialize. SFBA provides opportunities and services for all students, alumni, faculty, and staff at the University of Toronto who are interested in advancing these goals. Our work also includes connecting with community members/organizations in an effort to strengthen access, equity, and advocacy beyond our campus.

SFBA's soon-to opened new center will be located at 215 Huron St. on the St. George Campus. It will provide: an accessible computer work station including adaptive technology/software, a library with a specific concentration on disability related studies, a quiet study space, and a lounge area with kitchenette for all to gather and connect.

SFBA is currently looking to elect and expand its membership and Board of Directors for the upcoming 2009-2010 academic year. If you're interested in helping SFBA to fulfill its mandate to create a fully accessible community, please consider one of the following positions.

Positions open for election include:
(one) Chair
(one) Vice Chair
(one) Treasurer
(one) Secretary
(one) Member at Large
(five) General Board Members

SFBA also welcomes and encourages those who wish to volunteer in another
capacity.
