Release of the press committee of russian protest movement about Sergey Udaltsov:
“Moscow, Russia, December 26 — Sergey Udaltsov, the leader of the legally prohibited Left Front peaceful opposition movement, who was supposed to be released from jail on December 25, received an additional 10-day sentence instead, in a process widely believed to be politically motivated. In the most exciting moment of the trial, his lawyer Nikolai Polozov tore out some documents from Udaltsov’s court file, and, with court officers in hot pursuit, handed them over to the opposition Duma Deputy Ilya Ponomarev. Invoking his legislative immunity, Ponomarev refused to hand the documents over to the court officers. The recording of the incident was broadcast by Life News network, made infamous in recent days for broadcasting the illegally wiretapped cell phone conversations of Boris Nemtsov, another opposition politician.[1] Justice of Peace Olga Borovkova, who had judged several processes dealing with opposition leaders, including Udaltsov, in the past, presided over the case....
@OccupySPb #RussianWinter – We won the first fight on Dec10!
It is definitely great that so many thousands of people in may be 50-60 towns all over Russia should get themselves out of their homes out in the gold streets (it is winter time – and in some places it could have been quite easily 10-15 C below zero).
In Moscow they say there were about 150 000 people out in the streets protesting.
And as in other towns there were from 1000 to 5000 protesters (apart from SPb), the most important protest was in Moscow (150 000), because of the numbers and psychologically as the Kremlin citizens could see the protest out of their window – the protest was not a reported one, not the one lied about, but the one they could see by themselves out of their fortress....

Okay I will half-heartedly disagree with you somewhat for once in a blue moon. I think that there is genuine opposition to the pro-Kremilin United Russia party. And I really think there are some pro-USA/pro-West elements loitering around in the Duma waiting for opportune moments like this. The moment is passing, though.
And as one observer wrote about it, the western press was ignoring the fact that about 20% voted for the Communist Party. And at the same time, I think some of the protest organizers have had some "training" and encouragement from the West.
Late on Tuesday night, Russia's Channel 1 broadcast a segment about Mr. McFaul, who is one of Mr. Obama's top advisers on Russia and a primary architect of the relationship's reset. The commentary emphasized Mr. McFaul's relationship with opposition leaders and suggested that his intent was to lay the groundwork for revolution. ...
The segment delved into Mr. McFaul's previous work in Russia, including a stint in the 1990s with the National Democratic Institute, an organization that Mr. Leontyev said was "known for its proximity to the American intelligence services and its work preparing the political leaders of the third world."
Thought I'd post this before someone accuses us of smearing the American CIA in addition to badmouthing another popular "people's rebellion", this time in Russia.
