Say No to Canadian War Pigs 'R2P' On Syria!
We Must Act Now in Syria Or Pay Later - by Hugh Segal

"It is time to ask ourselves whether Syria will be our generation's Czechoslovakia. But foreign powers and a brutal Syrian military are deeply involved in the killing of thousands. Aside from pious declarations and failed attempts by UN observers, the world stands idly by. Children and mothers massacred, tortured and used as human shields by government forces. The world stands by. Apartment blocks shelled until all arre dead. We stand by.
UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's courageous and sincere efforts were used by President Bashar al Assad to buy more time and kill more people. Armed by Iran and Russia, and protected by the UN Security Council vetoes wielded by China and Russia, Mr al Assad, his army and armed thugs have become the poster boys for brutal impunity.
If the UN is paralyzed, that is an institutional issue. If the world uses that paralysis as over to avoid responsibility, that is a moral issue and a deep abdication. That a Western and hopefully Arab League-led intervention will be hard, complex and messy is a given. Important gestures of humanity and civility usually are.
Standing by and watching is not hard, complex or messy. It is simply criminal. And it says to Iran, Russia, China and their client states that there is really no one with the 'responsibility to protect' anyone else from atrocities or state-sponsored mass and lethal violence. And that is how the dogs of war and global violence are truly unleashed - as they were when Czechoslovakia was ceded to the Nazis decades ago without a fight.
Syria is the canary in the coal mine..."
We must act now indeed. Stop the war pigs! No to imperialist war on Syria!
From the babbling brook of bullshit that is Canada's non-elected senate.
TAYLOR: Libya Descending into Chaos after NATO 'Success' - by Scott Taylor

"Last week it was reported that the Canadian military is studying their options should an international intervention in war-torn Syria become a reality. The Defence Department sources quoted claimed this preparatory planning was not being conducted at the request of the government, rather it was simply a prudent exercise given the escalating violence in Syria...
if the international community comes calling for partners in a coalition force, the Canadian military wants to have a handy list of options available to present to Prime Minister Harper. The usual pro-war pundits have opined that Canada could, yet again, take a lead role in this deployment as we did with the Libya mission last year...
One has to hope that the Canadian military strategists toiling away at devising a strategy for Syria take a closer look at what was actually claimed to be a victory in Libya..."
The anti-war crowd need better slogans than merely, "Just say no to bombs." We must confront and oppose the pro war propaganda leading up to the perpetration of war crimes and imperialist colder war maneuvering. We are hamstrung without facing up to the fact that what happened in 1980s Afghanistan and Pakistan has been a recipe and recurring theme in the Middle East, Africa and continuing still in Central Asia. Pakistan itself is barely a whisper from becoming another brutal U.S.-backed military dictatorship. War drums beat louder for blitzkrieg over Syria and its only ally in the region, Iran. And contrary to what certain babble forum minders would like us to believe, the American CIA and western intel agencies have been working overtime toward regime change in countries daring to defy the Atlantic Alliance order of things.
I agree, but first we need to produce an 'anti-war crowd'. At present it's not even company let alone a crowd..
