Hopefully I can come, just have to double check a few things.

Seems like an odd choice for the venue, what with TVs everywhere showing UFC.

Maysie is an enormous MMA fan, and she insisted on watching replays of the latest PPV.

I think it was a convenient location for many of the guests and organizers. They do have an excellent beer selection, however.

How am I supposed to get back to the Island at 10 pm on a Sunday night? argg. I shall investigate.

Ack, sorry Beltov. The bar is near the Commercial Dr. SkyTrain station if that helps at all (which it doesn't, considering the "convenient" placement of both ferry terminals). Hope you can work something out!

Yea, I just had a look at Google Maps. Being close to the SkyTrain station is helpful, actually. Perhaps I am cuckoo for imagining I can "drop by" on the 14th with my schedule, and the distances involved, but I will look into it.

It was fun meeting fellow babblers Cueball and CMOT a while ago. A few more would be good as well.

Sheesh Catchfire. The slander! The side comments!

This is why I organize all the Toronto babbler get-togethers.

There is NO way I signed up for anything against Toronto Tyranny. You know, the good kind. But since I will be hanging my head in shame for the next four fucking years I might as well fess up and let everyone know that I wish, I wishhhhh I could move to Vancouver, a city I re-discovered this summer as the most gorgeous city ever. I have a plan.

And I had to google MMA, by the way. But, interestingly, not UFC. I won't dwell on what that means.

Maybe we could bump the time up a bit to catch N's schedule. I would love to meet some West Coast babblers. I'm fun in person. Tequila shots anyone? Laughing

Are they handing out water wings in the event that the long overdue earthquake strikes and the whole city slides into the Strait of Georgia? Not that I am wishing anything bad on the wet coast babblers, just wondering....

Here's a secret, bagkitty: the much anticpated ginormous earthquake hit Vancouver three years ago, but the weed is so good here no one noticed.

NBeltov, if you left at 9 you could catch the Duke Point 11pm ferry.

In that event I guess I'd be back as a full time mod.  I've made a note to keep an eye on things during this event.

Oh, the big one, eh! Laughing

I think we already had it in the 1600s or 1700s.

Will you be coming, NR and remind? It would be nice to have a healthy contingent of babblers refresenting.

If the big one hits during this party, it will take out the entire rabble staff except for oldgoat. It will be ripe for colonization. He'll finally be able to realize his dream of running a Taylor Swift fanzine from a Canadian leftist perspective.

No sorry, would love to, but my next 3 weeks are full up with personal and community obligations. a quick trip to the coast is not possible.

That's too bad, remind. We should have an islander babbler meet-up at some point!

Anyway, bumpity-bump. Any other Best Coast babblers coming by?

I live about 5 minutes away!  I may well come, how will I recognize the group if I do?

I might be there.  I assume I should just enter the pub yelling "Babblebabblebabble" in order to draw your attention?

Give Maysie a Singapore Sling or two and she'll be yelling "babblebabblebabble" all night without prompting.

I wouldn't worry about identifying us--we might even have a banner--but it will be pretty obvious where the bunch of lefties are sitting in this bar.

I'm going to try to wander down after I get the lovelies to bed, if only to talk about the Get beaten by nazis thread.  (There ... that should drum up some business for this little shindig.)

It doesn't look to be in the cards for me. Too much happening over here on Sunday.

I was going to try to jet in for a couple of hours, but I promised Mrs. Oldgoat the Gulfstream for the weekend.  We'll be popping across to Lake Como to see the Clooneys.  I'll have a glass of Dalmore for you.

Hi everyone!

The rabble retreat (which is just finishing) has had NO WIFI all weekend. Surprised

(I still have the shakes, and we will not be able to fully check the abuse queue or much of anything else for a few hours. Try to be nice, eh? Or is it too late to request that? Tongue out )

Catchfire and I are online briefly right now and wanted to check in with all the Vancouver-area babblers. Too bad, N, that would have been nice, but it will be great to meet Ripple, wage zombie and anyone else who can attend. Look for the jittery wild-eyed Torontonian in the corner muttering to herself. That's me. Catchfire will be downing casks, or kegs, or whatever the hell you beer people call them.

Woohoo!! See you at 7! PST!

Good morning! Maysie and I had a great conversation with Michael Nenonen and wage_zombie last night on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. We talked about the future of babble and decided to keep it. Too bad about some of the babbler regrets (and sorry about your cold, Lachine Scot) but although Vancouver babblers were somewhat underrepresented, many of our bloggers, podcasters, writers and staff were out in force. The night made me think we should have more of these Best Coast get-togethers.

Again, I have to apologize for our absence this weekend--we were promised internet but it wasnt there when we arrived. babble seems to still be around though, so give me and Maysie a bit of time (she's on her way back to Toronto right now) to go through the rubble and see what's left...
