This is my first time....I'm nervous and excited....be gentle....

Did anyone else hear a little clip on the CBC on the 6th in the eve about a Con MP (can't remember name) who issued his own statement (yes, without father Harper) on Gaza? He stated we need to remember that the rocket attacks were prefaced by 18 months of Israeli blockade....I was floored. Did I imagine this? I've looked for evidence of it everywhere (meaning on the internet of course) and not found anything. Anyone?

I heard it and couldn't believe it. It was such a blip of an item that I didn't catch the MP's name.

I did. Even though I've turned CBC off (bad &^%$%! habits!)

Here is a short news report:  http://www.inews880.com/Channels/Reg/LocalNews/story.aspx?ID=1050497

Who was it?

Brian Storseth, MP from Edmonton.

His statement isn't even inside the allowed range for Liberals, let alone the Conservatives. Has Harper fired him yet?

I suppose a bigger question might be why was this story just a "blip" that was quickly washed and scrubbed away? Did I answer my own question?

WESTERN STANDARD: Storseth "A voice of reason on Gaza"

A voice of reason on Gaza

The siege in Gaza is likely the most polarizing issue in the news these days. Polarizing or not, though, it's hard to see why either side would change tact if things continue on as they are.

Obama summed up best the motives of the Israelis when he said that he would take any action necessary to protect his daughters from rockets being dropped on their house, but with substantial (though nowhere near unanimous) support for their actions, it's hard to see what would motivate Hamas to act differently than it has, either.

This is why I'm happy to see Brian Storseth, a Conservative MP for Westlock-St. Paul, standing out from the crowd by calling for not only an end to the launching of rockets by Hamas, but also an end to the blockade of Gaza by Israel. ...

Speaking of Conservatives and Gaza...

Amnesty Canada has drafted a letter to Lawrence Cannon, urging the Canadian government to act. You can sign here:

Let's just say neither has been heard from since. Surprised

Except Western Standard is standing by it's right to free speech. Cool

I believe Storseth and the tories have been deluged with congratulations, from Canadians, but they don't quite know what to do with them! Laughing

Meanwhile, Iggy has already staked out the extreme right position ... 'that nasty Hamas' (human rights for children?)

So ... where is Harper going to go?

Stick with deadBush or catch the Obama wave?

 Such a dilemma ... tsk.
