Linda McQuaig VS Chrystia Freeland

I think this race should have its own thread.

Two women, one riding.

This is shaping up to be a battle of the titans!

Each of these ladies will not roll over and concede the riding to the other.

So discuss here and discuss now!

As I posted yesterday in another thread, Linda is having an event with Tom Mulcair at the Pogue Mahone Bar on Thurday evening at 7 pm.

The address is 777 Bay Street but the most convenient entrance is off College Street, just west of Yonge and near the College subway.

now this is funny

Mrs. Freeland retweets info from Fraser Institute. guess #lpc economic team 'shoots the hippo' #torcen #cdnpoli http://www.fraserinstitute.org/uploadedFiles/fraser-ca/Content/research-news/research/publications/economic-freedom-of-the-world-2013.pdf …

Now we know how progressive the Fraser Institute is and how up and progressive the Koch brothers from USA who are big donors of Fraser.

Seems to me that FI report should be subtitled, Freedom to Exploit.

Brachina

I have a feeling Freelands own arrogence is going to defeat her in TC.

Linda McQuaig is already putting up a fight.

“It’s hard to imagine what useful economic advice Freeland can offer Trudeau,” Ms. McQuaig said in a statement. “Rather than assuming she’s going to win, she should come to the riding, where I’ve invited her to debate rising inequality and what can be done about it.”

What is Chrystia Freeland afraid of?

And will either of them show up on Rogers Community Cable for the debate moderated by Dale Goldhawk?

Why is Chrystia Freeland so afraid to debate Linda McQuaig?

Why? Becaus McQuaig will clobber her; that's why.

From the keyboard of a Lb apologist on Huff Post, Freelan was just "doing her job as a reporter".

Honest.

janfromthebruce

The Huff post is a place of Liberal staffers who lost their jobs and are now writing for that forum. Anyway, it's funny but just doing her job is quaint. Could you imagine McQuaig, as a reporter or writing in the Star that she would use the fraser Institute data as just doing her job? Nope, so one doesn't have to buy into the BS.

In the words of Kim Campbell @ 1:20 in the below clip "Why are you afraid to hear me? Why are you so scared? Just listen!"

Do you think Chrystia Freeland will say the same thing at her all-candidates debate?

Why is she so scared to face-off against Linda?

I did attend just in time to catch the speeches.  Good scene, though it was hard to hear Linda.

What NDP stars did you see at the event? How was the food?

Linda is keeping up the heat on Freeland. She told the Toronto Star '"I can expose Freeland and ultimately Trudeau as having no real solutions"

Chrystia Freeland pointedly refused to reply to McQuaig’s swipes against her, saying it wasn’t the day to do so.

So will Freeland melt under the McQuaig heat?

Mórríghain

I think in a straight up fight McQuaig could beat Freeland, even in this long-time-Lib riding, however I doubt we'll see a straight up fight. McQuaig lives here, seems to know her stuff as long as she avoids discussing the Mid East (she's too partisan), and she has a higher professional profile (up until last week I'd never heard of Freeland); Freeland seems pretty clueless in the interviews I've seen however McQuaig will be fighting an uphill battle and her primary opponent, I suspect, will be Justin Trudeau.

Depends what consitutes a "star."  Adam Giambrone?  Jennifer Hollett?

Overpriced.

Its usually overpriced and not very good, but I admire McQuaig, and wish her well.

"Chrystia Freeland pointedly refused to reply to McQuaig’s swipes against her, saying it wasn’t the day to do so."

TorStar Lib writer used Swipes, whereas the better word would be criticism.

Yep! Nailed it again Jan!

To add to Mórríghain's post, Mulcair was there too.  And Cash.  I'm guessing Olivia Chow was there, but it was so crowded at the time that I did not see her, and I left right after the speeches.

It was a good event, drew a lot of people.  Diverse crowd.  Both young and old.

Here are parallel interviews with Freeland and McQuaig in the Globe today.

IMO, F seems reticent, vague and avoids several questions.

M shows much more forthrightness, verve and wit.

Its a shame no one will see it because of the stupid paywall.

You had to PAY for the food? I'm sure the Liberals offered free food and drinks at their event!
