Migrants justice organization outraged by Maclean's award to Jason Kenney
Vancouver – The anti-racist migrant justice organization No One Is Illegal is outraged at the awarding of “Best MP of the Year” to Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney by Macleans. Based on polling of MP’s, the Third Annual Parliamentarian of the Year was awarded to Conservative Calgary MP Jason Kenney on May 13 in Ottawa.
According to Alex Mah of No One Is Illegal, “Minister Kenney is routinely called the Minister of Censorship and Deportation. Kenney was the one who decided that Canada would not participate in the 2009 Durban World Conference Against Racism. His controversial statements and racist attacks on immigrants are hardly worth awarding. In fact, we demand the opposite – Fire Jason Kenney!”

Oh, actually there are.
What the fucking hell fuck? I mean, I know it's Maclean's, hardly a supporter of migrant worker's rights, but best MP? Isn't there some do-nothing backbencher who at least isn't causing the damage that Kenney has? Or is that the point?
I'll say that Jason Kenney is the best MP of the year...
...only if I preface it with "When it comes to making an ass of himself"
I'd have to disagree with you there, genstrike. Kenney has lots of competition in that category.
"This used to be a great country. Where the hell did we go wrong?" Quote from the movie "Easy Rider".
Not surprising. Maclean's has been a Reformatory organ for several years now. It's total right-wing pap.
And some here would like to quote Coyne, as an authority figure for people to listen too! Guess we now know who he represents on the At Issue panel.
Fucking anti-democratic (at best) media in Canada anyway.
I'd have to disagree with you there, genstrike. Kenney has lots of competition in that category.
I don't know, maybe I'm biased because I've thought Kenney was an idiot for a long time (I hated him before it was cool), but I figure between being a racist fuckwit in charge of immigration and citizenship and the whole business with Galloway, I think Kenney really stands out among the crowd and clinches the top spot.
Anders gets an honorable mention, though. And Bruinooge. And Ritz. And who can forget about Baird?
All right, I see what you mean, but I still think Kenney is #1 (or #308, depending on how you look at it)
Yeah, I hated Jason Kenney before it was cool too.
In June 2006 when Harper announced his "apology" to the Chinese community for the Chinese Exclusion Act, and promised compensation to surviving head tax payers, their spouses and their descendants, some in the Chinese community wanted to celebrate this by inviting someone from the federal government to attend their annual banquet celebration/fundraiser.
I was there. It was disgusting. (Not the food, the food was fabulous.) Stephen Harper's face and his name all over the program, thanking him, being grateful. Ick. While I support the work of the CCNC, and sat on the board of CCNCTO for a number of years, it was a divisive time in the progressive Chinese community in Toronto.
They sent Jason Kenney. I had to be restrained from hurling items at his head.
And my comment about other MPs being up for the title of "Best at making an ass of himself" was meant to be inclusive of any other Conservative MPs that we may have overlooked in our zestful hatred of Jason Kenney.
You know me, always being inclusive. Even of dumbasses.
