Paul Dewar to join NDP leadership race

I predict he'll win.

New Democrat MP Paul Dewar is expected to enter the NDP leadership race on Sunday, joining an increasingly crowded field vying to succeed the late Jack Layton.

Dewar, who represents the Ontario riding of Ottawa South, is slated to announce his candidacy at a news conference on Parliament Hill.

He becomes the fourth official candidate to join the race, following former party president Brian Topp, Quebec MP Romeo Saganash and B.C.'s Nathan Cullen.

Dewar, first elected to the House of Commons in 2006, has reportedly been working on his French in recent weeks leading up to the bid to lead the NDP, which made historic gains in May's federal election and now represents the majority of ridings in Quebec.

No kidding. What do you want me to do here? List all the reasons I don't think Paul Dewar should be leader.

He can't speak French

He is way too pro-NATO and happy about it

He is articulate but not as much as Mulcair

Ottawa-centric

-----------------------------

Still I admit he would be top tier and he is sure being pushed by the MSM

Tiers are not enough.

Perhaps the right-of-centre vote will be split between Mulcair and Dewar and Canada won't have yet another wolf in sheep's clothing to lead the social democrats.

What makes you say Mulcair is right of centre? Or Dewar for that matter?

He used to be my MP and I found him underwhelming. I will certainly feel pretty uninspired by the NDP if he wins the leadership.

This can go in the regular NDP leadership franchise. Closing.
