A second Conservative MP in as many weeks has gotten his wrists slapped by Elections Canada for violating Canada’s elections law.

Once again, the infraction occurred well before the May 2 election, but is only being announced weeks after the election ended.

In a notice published in the Canada Gazette, Elections Canada says Neil D. Thorogood, official agent for Kevin Sorenson, MP for the Alberta riding of Crowfoot, broke the election law by using the same bank account for the 2006 and 2008 elections campaigns. Under the elections law, the official agent for a campaign is suppose to open a separate bank account for the sole purpose of a candidate’s elections campaign and then close it once all the unpaid claims or surpluses have been settled.
