University grad marriage trends change
The percentage of women with a university degree married to men with a similar level of education dropped slightly in 2006 from 25 years earlier, a newly released study from Statistics Canada finds.
In 2006, 64 per cent of married, university-educated women had spouses who were also university educated - a drop of three percentage points from 1981. For women in a common-law relationship, the percentage in 2006 was 48.
The study did not consider same-sex marriages or unions because their numbers were small and there is no data on such unions for years prior to 2001.
At the same time, the number of university-educated men with university-educated wives spiked, from 38 per cent in 1981 to 67 per cent in 2006.

kinda a weird idea for a study. does it really matter if people are choosing to get married or live common law or just stay single?
