Why is the Harper government trying to hide the outbreak of Salmon anemia in BC?

Dr. Kristi Miller  discovered strong evidence for a new form of Salmon anemia  killing the wild pacific salmon.  This is very likely to be a disease that jumped from the farmed atlantic salmon.  The Harper government were so scared of her findings  that they prevented her talking to the press and defunded her.  So she cannot do further research.

Clearly you cannot stop a deadly disease in its tracks by pretending it does not exist.  So what is their motive for the crimes against Miller?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infectious_salmon_anemia_virus suggests one motive.  There is no cure for the disease. The eu  has put it in these stark terms. :"ISA is a major threat to the viability of salmon farming and is now the first of the diseases classified on List One of the European Commission’s fish health regime. Amongst other measures, this requires the total eradication of the entire fish stock should an outbreak of the disease be confirmed on any farm. The economic and social consequences of both the disease and the measures used to control it are thus very far reaching."  At some stage we in BC HAVE TO  listen to what the scientist say.  Even as Harper gags and starves his scientists, the fish on the fish farms are mostly going to die anyway.  But there is no need to take the wild pacific salmon of BC (AND THE USA!) with them too.

The yanks are rightly angry about this.  News of the coverup  is only starting to make the newspapers there now.  They are going to get much more pist off at us about this coverup. And their anger is totally in order.

The Harper government is causing an economic disaster in the very near future by doing this.

Lets learn from the EU directives and do the right thing  before it is too late.
