Aux armes, étudiants!

If you've been using your history/philosophy/language degree to deliver pizzas, this could be just what you need to buck you up. Anyone can help out, but some experience with palaeography might be useful.

University College London is turning to the general public to transcribe Jeremy Bentham's voluminous manuscript writings. Scholars have been working for years at this task, with some progress, but the mountain remaining has convinced the leading lights of the Bentham project that crowdsourcing may be the way to go. You can work at your own pace online and help is always available. Jemmy's fist is execrable, btw.

I hope this initiative will be widely copied. There's lots of bright people out there who could be contributing to the scholarly world.
