If rumours alone for Brexit is disasterous for the pound, it's scary to think what would happen should Brexit actually occur, eh!

The shitkicking the UK economy is taking isn't because of rumours, and it's not a prelude to actual Brexit.  It's the uncertainty.  If the UK had actually left the EU promptly, rather than infighting, back-biting, plotting, machinating, complaining, denouncing, resigning, grandstanding, begging and impeding then it would be done by now.

Who wants to invest in a country that may or may not be subject to EU rules in a month?  Or three?  What if they sob and beg and turn on the waterworks for yet another extension?  Investors hate uncertainty.

The perpetual austerity requirements of the EU-that's the only thing you can call a mandatory balanced budget policy and rules that make nationalization virtually impossible-are boosting nationalist parties, and in boosting the nationalist parties, are actually subverting the peace.

There was never any excuse for those rules being part of the EU.

Theresa May is done for – but at least she’ll get some joy at watching Boris Johnson flop too

As Johnson goes to and from Brussels, getting much the same treatment from Barnier and the press as May did, you wouldn’t blame the ex-prime minister for letting out a satisfying ‘I told you so’

Are you not sure it isn't because of all the businesses moving out of England

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/number-firms-making-brexit-relocation-plans-rising-230042124.html

Growing numbers of firms have begun relocating part of their business this year because of Brexit, a survey suggests.

Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)’ quarterly commercial property survey of its members found 33% of respondents had seen signs of companies looking to move at least some of their operations. in the first quarter of 2019.

Debt is the Hidden Issue in the European Elections

'The European Union remains indifferent to the people's needs, while it caters to every whim of the corporations.' - [Much like the mainstream political parties]

https://off-guardian.org/2019/05/22/debt-is-the-hidden-issue-in-the-euro...

"The citizens of the European Union are called to vote this week for the European Parliament. It is not a real parliament, and it lacks prospects for becoming one, since all important decisions are taken by the unelected heads of the European Commission and the European Central Bank, dubbed 'The Worst-Run Central Bank in the World.'

These elections capture however the general mood of exasperation with current policies. Conservative and extreme Right parties will rise, reflecting widespread skepticism as to the economic course of the EU and its lack of benefits for the common people. The mainstream left unfortunately neglects these issues, and it will pay the price.

The rest of Europe is but one debt crisis away from the fate of Greece. And the global financial bubble is guaranteed to bring this crisis forward, sooner rather than later..."

No point pointing that out to NR.  He apparently thinks that the EU is some sort of UN.

Dear European Union,

"Oops, we did it again!" -- LOL.

But seriously, though, we know that the last time we begged you for another extension we said it was so that we could all join together, pass the talking stick, listen to one another, accept compromise, and find a way out of this horrid, bug-infested, muddy swamp we're lost in before the sun goes down.  And we really meant it this time.  But unbelievably,  something's come up.

We're afraid we will need, instead, to spend a few weeks, or a few months at most, fighting for the honour of being the captain of this sinking ship.  Yes, Brexit is certainly important, as we keep saying, and we'll totally get to the consensus building just as soon as we've had a long, protracted battle for the Iron Throne that will surely consume 99% of our energies and most of the summer.  We have before us an opportunity to piss off our entire electorate, so surely you understand we cannot settle for only half.  Our bad, it's on us, but we really need to do this first, and we count on your continued grudging patience.

While we acknowledge that schedules and deadlines really aren't our strong suit, we optimistically expect to be finished and done and all the clubs and daggers cleaned and put away by no later than Oct. 30, and should there be a need for further side quests beyond that, we'll do our very best to alert you no later than Oct. 29.

Ever yours (maybe... we'll see -- LOL!),

Speaking or writing in English is an act of colonial violence.

Militant state control of citizens’ speech is a small price to pay to enforce a tolerant society.

If the Tories don’t replace Theresa May with a queer person of colour, then we’ll know that they were fascists all along.

Artistic merit should be assessed by calculating the percentages of how often characters speak according to race, gender and sexuality.

And so on and so forth. It's like what people on Free Dominion used to think all left-wingers were like, except the writer has a slightly better handle on how a twentysomething progressive artist might express herself.

Maybe the people of northern European EU countries like Sweden, Denmark, Finland,Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Germany, benefit from being in the EU? And maybe it’s Brexiters like Farage and Boris who have been impoverishing the people of northern UK?
