Notice from J-PARC about East Japan Great Earthquake
J-PARC was heavily affected by The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake, including lifelines. On March 11, 2011, when the earthquake occurred, we were running LINAC, however, it was immediately stopped automatically. We had no effect of tsunami that happened nearby, and no one was injured. Also, there was no problem on radiation.
At present, we are trying to grasp the whole situation of damage on each of the devices and instruments. When it is done, it is necessary to determine a plan for restoration with based on the accurate inspection on respective facilities. It is predicted, unfortunately, that a considerably long period would be required until we could resume operations. We will undertake restoration work with the utmost energy, with support from people and organizations concerned.
We would appreciate your kind cooperation and understanding for the restoration.

Here is a map I found on Google maps...

You have to zoom out a bit to get a good idea of where it is located.
Is this something to do with NUCLEAR WEAPONS?
There is a rumour that the Fukushima power plant was secretly producing nuclear weapons.
PS - I see this story is losing steam here, and maybe I am flogging a dead horse, but there is radiation pouring out of the reactors in Fukushima and it isn't leaving planet earth. I see no reason for the authorities to tell us the truth if this is a dangerous situation... it will be 5, or 10, or 20 years before the cancer increases are noticed, and we will mostly have forgotten about Fuku by then.
Therefore, I will continue to scour the 'net for info. I am not convinced either way yet - safe or not safe.
