North Korea fired two rounds toward South Korea at their tense border and South Korean troops immediately fired back, an official said Friday.
North Korean troops fired at a South Korean guard post in the Demilitarized Zone, said an official at the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul.

Two 14.5mm rounds? North and South Korea exchange small arms fire from time to time on the DMZ but that's kind of on the heavy side for right up on the DMZ.
When I served over there we could only have pistols and 7.62mm rifles or smaller within 2000 meters of the DMZ; heavy machineguns were not allowed as part of the cease fire treaty.

This is their version of the 50 cal machinegun. Like I said, kind of big for what's usually right up on the DMZ.
The North Koreans are also pissed about the South not sending the rice shipments they demanded so this could be retaliation for that as well.
