I think we, individuals and countries, often create things we eventually oppose. I think Clinton currently opposes Al Qaeda. Russia created Stalin. Do they currently support him? Germany created Hitler. Do they currently support him? The U.S. created Trump....

Looks like the Assad regime is planning on creating even more atrocities and leaving behind even more rubble! Syrians need a government that unites them, not divides them between Shia/Alawi and Sunni.

I don't consider the US to meet the criteria required to be considered a democracy, mostly because they have a two-party system that has intrenched the Democrats/Republicans as their ruling party.

On the list of UN nation's, I think interfering in countries that bomb and gas their own people should be an option for interference by the UN, which should leave Assad's regime open to interference by the UN and International Criminal Court.

China to join Idlib offensive, took part in Russian Mediterranean drill

Sep 10, 2018 @ 11:33

Chinese warships, fighter jets and bombers took part in the big, week-long Russian naval exercise in the eastern Mediterranean that ended on Saturday, Sept. 8, DEBKAfile’s military sources reveal. It was the first time that Beijing took any military role in the seven-year Syrian war, a development that has been kept under close wraps by Moscow, Washington and Jerusalem. Our military sources report that 3,500 Chinese marines are on standby for flights to Syria to join the Russian-Iranian-Syrian campaign for retaking Idlib province from rebel hands. They will fly through Russia.  Beijing owns a special interest in this campaign in view of the strong presence among the jihadist groups holed up in Idlib of several thousand Uighur Islamists from Xinjiang, who are members of the banned Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), Al Qaeda’s branch in China.

Hmmm...the battle for Idlib...Russia, Iran China, Hezbollah and Syria vs. USA Canada, France, Britain and Israel and their mercenaries...... Is this the War to end all Wars?

Gassing his own people is an unproven Western propaganda meme much like Iraq's WMD's. It would be nice if NATO followed international law. Instead they presume to be accuser, prosecutor, judge and executioner without the Syrian government having a change to meet the accusations in a proper judicial forum. NATO spy agencies have tried the Syrians in the court of public opinion where proof is not required. It is the antithesis of international law.

Unfortunately for the Syrian people since assholes from the NATO started arming terrorists to get regime change everyone has been bombing Syrian cities. The ISIS/NATO coalition bombing cities held by the government and the government trying to liberate them from Islamic fundamentalists. You talk about democracy but fail to notice that the cities captured by the NATO/ISIS coalition all had theocracies in their territories. That is who you support.

So tell me does a government have the right to fight Western backed terrrorists or not?

Once the Western corporate media endorses the spurious gas attack claims, as they always do, few people ask "cui bono?", who benefits.

One can legitimately maintain that Assad is a bad man (which includes doing outsourced torture for the US) but he clearly isn't stupid, as anyone who has seen him interviewed would know.

To blame him for this latest in a series of false flag gas attacks, his thinking would have to be:

"Let's see, we are winning this conflict handily, so let's drop a little poison gas which serves no military or strategic purpose in order to justify another "humanitarian intervention" attack by the US, and my likely overthrow. Cool."

The majority of the Republican-Democrat-media continuum will again slobber approval for Trump's attacks and not doubt the fabrication, though some will complain he should have done more if doesn't complete the “regime change”, and some will claim it's a distraction from his legal problems (probably some truth there)--but few, or none, will say it is another act of unwarranted US aggression.

Taking the president, the U.N. Ambassador, the Israeli Prime Minister and the U.S. Special Representative for Syria at their words, it would appear that the Washington Establishment and its Israeli manipulators have narrowed the options for dealing with Syria and its regional supporter Iran to either war or war. Add to that the closing time window for doing something to ameliorate the Trump Administration’s panic over the impending midterm election, and it would seem that there is a certain inevitability regarding the process whereby the United States military will again be on the march in the Middle East.

Judging by how Assad's regime has been able to bomb and gas people, I would say that the Syrian regime has the right to fight all sorts of people within Syria including terrorists. It seems to me that Assad's dictatorial regime and his father's dictatorial regime have always been able to very aggressively "defend" themselves, well before the outbreak of the recent civil war. I don't think Assad's regime would have lost control over most of Syria without the opposition of a large portion of the Syrian population. I think if Syrians supported Assad, most of his country would not have fallen into the hands of Syrian Sunni rebels and his country would not have been susceptible to interference from Sunni terrorists from outside of Syria. Unfortunately, Assad senior and junior have not governed in the interest of most Syrians and this has led to a deep schism within Syria society that has led to a civil war and to 1/3rd of the country's population becoming refugees. I think if a fair Syrian election were held, Assad would not stand a chance of continuing on with his regime. I think that's why he, and his father before him, have never held fair elections.

NDPP

It wasn't a civil war it was a well choreographed regime-change operation involving foreign assets from the beginning.  Did you not view the Wesley Clark video laying out '7 countries in 5 years'? Go read the early Syria threads and perhaps learn something about how this began instead of simply repeating tired and discredited agit-prop & talking points on official enemies - the same used with Gaddafi and Saddam before him. This project has nothing to do with Assad good or bad except he resisted. And Russia joined this resistance. And Iran. Syria must fall before they can next move on Iran. You need to come to grips with geopolitics, energy corridors and agendas of empire not just mouth propaganda and drivel. The original feature of the war against Syria is that although it was declared by states (the 'Friends of Syria' [of which Canada was a member], it was in reality fought almost exclusively by non-state armies, the jihadists.
