Is this going on in Canada ?

I think it realy should be and this system is probably all developped and ready to be installed in other places.

I will report reactions I get showing this to town officials.

Hi blanc.

To answer your question, no.

And, um, I clicked your link. My succinct response is: yikes. Please don't misquote me to the town officials.

I dunno, sounds like a francophone to me.  Some slack ought to be cut.

Tu viens d'où?  Je veux savoir les opinions des officiels.

Do you currently attend any form of town meetings where you live?  If so, what do you feel are the principle factors helping or inhibiting the spirit of democracy to truly thrive in your town?

I live in Granby and just moved back there so I do not currently attend meetings and it is not the right timing to go discuss of this right now with officials since they are overwhelmed by the huge referendum about to take place for another arena. I will go next week or the other but I could always go see other little towns nearby.

I think individualism and the fact that people have gotten into networked and information society makes it more difficult for things to go on localy.

I interpret this as possibly meaning two tings, or maybe a bit of both:

1) Networked/information society provides such an easy form of excape from peoples daily realities that they are happy to just ignore the personal problems going on around them.

2) There are enough self-interested people who have a sufficient level of personally comfort that they don't see much to gain by helping to make things better for everyone and prefer to spend there time in what idle entertainment that can find.

Is that more or less what you are talking about?
