Monsanto's GMO Corn Linked To Organ Failure, Study Reveals

I keep reading about Listeria in deli meats but really, it only is sort of background noise because I have been vegetarian for nearly twenty years. I am no fan of GMO plants but there was only a buzz about the potential for harm. This is starting to ring alarm bells. There really out to be a great deal of concern because corn is literally everywhere in the western diet. This link is to the only article I have seen so far but undoubtedly not the last...

Thanks for the link, one thing I was confused by was the reference to sex differences which the article referred to but didn't elaborate on.

This link clarifies the issue somewhat. The more that you look into the issue the more that it appears that this has all of the earmarks of becoming a major humanitarian disaster.

Thanks for that link.

As I suspected women show greater sensitivity,  why does this not surprise me?

Though I think Monsonto's reps are full of BS, I will play devil's advocate just to see what it's like.

"...Monsanto has immediately responded to the study, stating that the research is "based on faulty analytical methods and reasoning and do not call into question the safety findings for these products."

Hmmm... Monsanto's reps wouldn't lie, eh?

Are you sure the HuffingtonPost isn't a conspiracy site?

Pretending to be the devil's advocate does seem to keep the real ones away though...  In fact it keeps everyone away.  "...Crickets and Tumbleweeds..."

Anyway I just thought I would share a scenerio that others may be able to identify with.  My co-worker has a very serious kidney problem.  So serious that it could kill him.  He eats corn chips almost every single day.
After I read this about Monsonta GM corn I mentioned it to him.  I told him that one of the main effects is on the liver and kidneys.
I suggested buying organic corn chips instead.  I even told him places he could get organic corn chips cheaper than regular (likely Monsanto) chips.
He seemed to take it very serious... but what has he still been eating every single day since then?  I guess he won't take it seriously enough until his symptoms once again get so serious that he wakes up in a hospital.

I've seen this same senerio so many times.
For some reason people seem to crave the things that they are allergic to or those things that most harmful to them specifically
.  I guess I will have to buy him a whack of organic corn chips as an early birthday present so hopefully he will see his next birthday.

Monsanto has to contend with the authors of a peer-reviewed academic journal article (here's the abstract: http://www.biolsci.org/v05p0706). So the European public's hesitancy with GM-foods has been further legitimized. Good news for the rest of us, who are getting duped by agri-business' grip on power of government, which has no teeth to disclose GM content in our food supply.

Thanks for that link j.m.

I might have to print out the main points and stuff it in my buddy's bag of Doritos when he's not looking.

"...Effects were mostly associated with the kidney and liver, the dietary detoxifying organs, although different between the 3 GMOs. Other effects were also noticed in the heart, adrenal glands, spleen and haematopoietic system. We conclude that these data highlight signs of hepatorenal toxicity, possibly due to the new pesticides specific to each GM corn..."

Unfortunately there won't be anyone stuffing a warning in or printing a warning ON the bags of nonorganic corn chips being consumed by female children all over the world.

In Britain, "crisps" are potato chips.

Common food ingredients are killing us too - but this is not in Monsanto's control - it is in ours.

Monsanto GM Corn in Peril: Beetle Develops Bt-resistance

Nature herself may be the best opponent of genetically modified crops and pesticides.  Not only plants, but insects are also developing resistance.  The Western rootworm beetle – one of the most serious threats to corn – has developed resistance to Monsanto’s Bt-corn, and entire crops are being lost....
