Border workers push for biometric screening in perimeter security plan with U.S.

"The Customs and Immigration Union wants more intensive screening of travellers, including a biometric face-recognition tool to pinpoint security threats and wanted criminals.

"t also advocates exit controls - the matching of information about people leaving Canada with databases to identify those wanted on criminal or deportation warrants. The Canada-U.S. declaration envisions such a system, saying the countries will work toward the exchange of information such that "documented entry into one country serves to verify exit from the other country.""

If they go with the Bertillon system they'd have the added advantage of knowing right away who's a deviant or a ne'er-do-well.

Oh well, just another reason I won't be travelling to the United States anytime soon, even if I don't have a crinimal record.

I'm not going to put up with bullshit from people paranoid over security due to the fact that their so-called 'intelligence' agency didn't even try to share with the eaqually shitty FBI the info that would stop 9/11 from happening and to be treated like shit coming back into Canada from the USA by guards at secret checkpoints like this poor guy. The only thing I want to do in the States is sci-fi conventions anyway, and those I can do here since Toronto has a surplus of them.

So it looks like what I saw of our neighbors to the south will be just what I did as a child. When they calm down and don't believe that Canada's full of terrorists ready to kill them, then I'll come.
