Workers across the world today, are united in mourning the workers who had died while on the job, or from the performance of their job.

38 people in BC died in last year, while on the job. The construction indusrty had the largest loss.

You are remembered!

My condolences to their families.

I heard that 1080 people died on the job in 2008, is this number correct?

Something like 60,000 young workers alone, are injured per year on the job in Canada, what the remaining figures are  for those over 25, I do not know but, action is being taken to try to stop this nonsense. But youth are by far the highest amount injured on the job, while more older workers are killed on the job. I think the stats are about 60 youth who die each year across the country.

Quote:
The National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) is calling on the Canadian government to appoint special prosecutors to step up enforcement of laws to protect workers on the job.

In conjunction with observances marking the 25th National Day of Mourning for workers killed and injured on the job in Canada, NUPGE president James Clancy has written to Rob Nicholson, the country's justice minister and attorney general, calling for new measures to improve safety for workers.
