Including trans rights in the Human Rights Act: Round 3

The justice committee of the House of Commons passed a trans rights bill on Nov 2 that is almost a decade in the making. The bill, introduced by New Democrat MP Bill Siksay, would prohibit discrimination in Canada on the basis of gender identity.
This is the third time the bill has made its way through Parliament.
The bill, if passed by the Commons and Senate - and if it is proclaimed before an election is called, would explicily include "gender identity and gender expression as one of the identifiable characteristics that are protected under the Human Rights Act".
