Globe and Mail gets new editor: Edward Greenspon replaced by John Stackhouse

Big news over at the Globe and Mail, replacing their editor just days after the relaunch of globeandmail.com.

The 'official story': "Mr. Crawley said the appointment of a new editor-in-chief is just one step in a process 'to restructure our business, to meet the challenges of the current economic environment and the rapid changes in media consumption habits.'"

Blogger Bill Doskotch shares some initial thoughts on this personnel change here, and shares some speculations already making the rounds on social media: "David Akin of CanWest News Service, who used to have a joint appointment with the Globe and CTV, tweeted that some are gossiping Greenspon got dumped because he resisted further newsroom cuts."
