Braidwood Report
June 18, 2010 - 2:05pm
The final inquiry report on the death of Robert Dziekanski has concluded the RCMP were not justified in using a Taser against the Polish immigrant.
The long-awaited report, by retired B.C. Court of Appeal justice Thomas Braidwood, was released Friday in Vancouver.
Goddamned right!
Any chance this will lead to charges?
I'd bet a big fat 'nope'!
There's enough for a lot of charges to be laid. Manslaughter, obstruction of justice, public misschief to name a few I would think.
But of course, no one will be charged with anything, let alone convicted.
Two tier justice.
And let's not forget this little tidbit, either: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/07/16/roberts-dziekanski-rcmp-inquir...
It was announced today by BC Solicitor General Mike De Jong that he will be appointing a special prosecutor to review the report and to see if charges are warranted.
From the Georgia Straight website:
The Ministry of Attorney General announced this afternoon (June 18) that a special prosecutor has been appointed to review the report of the Braidwood Commission on the Death of Robert Dziekanski.
Vancouver criminal lawyer Richard Peck will decide if it's appropriate to reassess the Crown's decision not to lay charges against any of the RCMP officers involved.
