calendars from cibc to shoppers drug mart
i guess i am getting old... the idea of getting a free calendar that has some nice pics and is not a huge advertisement for them seems to be a thing of the past.... what is it about being subtle that is so impossible for these corporations to understand? being a bit more gentle and giving an enjoyable calendar would endear me to them so much more... i guess some folks in head office at these places are so caught up in marketing they have lost sight of a few basics...
I have a nice one from RONA, am expecting a deaktop calendar from our Caisse Populaire soon, and a very commercial one from Home Hardware. I used to order the church calendar every year, forgot to order one for 2010.
There's no free lunch. If you want a calendar, buy one. Then yo don't need to put up with the advertising.
brilliant! why didn't i think of that?
this isnt national news
for those who like to put things in the proper boxes, to which one does it go?
Who uses paper calendars these days??
anyone over the age of 30?
anyone over the age of 30?
I'm almost twenty years beyond that...and haven't used a paper calendar in years.
would an internet badge interest you? lol.....
This is the perfect time and place to mention the Conestoga Bird Seed Co.'s calendar for 2010, "Songbirds", produced on the "cheep" for a Mennonite farmer. The fact that it includes a blessed Bluejay as a songbird does not bear mentioning. My granddaughter thanked me for the colourful addition to her bedroom wall. Such handy and useful wall hangings do not exist in the electronic ether.
Thanks sandstone, and happy holidays.
thanks Geroge.. happy holidays to you and your loved one too! i appreciate an example like this that makes your granddaughters heart tickle.... when companies do this, they endear themselves to people... good on conestoga bird seed co!!!

George, you are an aquired taste, but one well worth the effort.
I always get an astronomy callendar. Well...I guess all callendars by deffinition... but these have big huge pictures, usually from the Hubble, and notes showing particular astronomical events during the year. Problem is finding one that leaves open boxes for the dates instead of filling them with notes.
I'm 60, and I need a paper calendar to mark down important things to remember. My memory is not as good as I think it used to be - last week I missed a Wednesday night Christmas concert by the school because I thought it was still Tuesday (and heavy snow that night would have kept me away as well, at any rate).
This absolutely isn't national news.
That said, my mom seems to live and die by the annual calendar sent out by Milk. Even worse, she saves them year after year. I'm sure there's a stack of twenty of them taking up space in a closet somewhere.
While I don't keep a wall calendar, I've refused to go the electronic route to replace my paper day planner. There's something about the "kill me" and "This is so boring" scribbled in the margins during meetings that I think might be amusing twenty years from now.
I dunno, it's going to be the same year, give or take five hours at the start and the end, all across Canada. That's national.
Oh you peeps are so funny.
Moving to banter.
it interestings folks can tell us what something isn't, but they can't tell us what it is.... TRY THIS. if you can tell us what something isn't, tell us what it is!!
banter is what folks have done with this thread, not what this thread is... that said, if the organizers of this site deem it necessary to put everything in the correct box, so be it... i am still learning this acquired taste.... might take a while, lol...
We still use a paper calender. It's really handy hanging in the kitchen, for keeping track of who's where and when. We have to figure out the why and what ourselves. Lots of calenders are quite attractive too, and we usually get one or two for christmas.
Hey sandstone. I realize you've been with us for a short while. Welcome to babble.

okay thanks for the elaboration on this maysie.. i was aware it wasn't 'national news' from the beginning, but was unaware as to 'where' it was supposed to go... completing an idea by letting me know where it goes, and why, is helpful!
