Canadian Blood Services IS LGBTI-PHOBIC!!
Can anyone give me an update on the Canadian Blood Services rejecting blood donors who are in a monogamous same-gender relationship? I found out that one public school in North-end Oshawa Ontario, denied students who are in "same-gender" relationship. Does Canadian Blood Services not know that sex, gender and sexuality are separate identity categories that are always in flux and mutually constituted?
Can anyone update me? I am pisssssssssed.

This is what Canadian Blood Services says:
I have never seen any reference to "gender", which would be even more bizarre. Do you have a source you can refer us to for the Oshawa situation?
ETA: I suppose I should have added this:
I am trying to reach my source now for clarification about the sex/gender distinction used in this case. I will also ask permission to release the name of the school, because many teacher are seeking solidarity for political action. So, what about women having sex with other women? Are lesbians still invisible? So any LGBTQQ sexual activity is considered high risk? WTF?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
The current bigoted policy means that, notionally speaking, if two teenaged old boys engaged in fellatio in 1977 and both have lived completely celibate lives ever since, they would not be permitted to give blood. By contrast, a girl of the same age could have had unprotected sex with multiple partners every single day from 1977 onward and injecting drugs using shared needles every day as well and, provided she ceased these behaviours by 12 December 2009, she could give blood today.
If this were about the safety of the blood supply, the questions would be about behaviours and the standard would be consistent for all persons based on a given behaviour.
Instead, the standard is based on fearmongering and hate.
