Michelle Jean's eats seal meat, urbanites lose it

The National Post has already gone ahead and used the term "savagery", and PETA spokespeople have called it "neanderthal" and "bloodlust". (I won't link to the NP, but here's a link to a CBC piece about it).

American celebrities like Pamela Anderson are like totally disgusted, and according to the CBC, an EU environment commission spokesperson described the event as "bizarre". (Apparently the seal wasn't factory-farmed or heavily subsidized by the EU's Common Agricultural Policy).

Somehow the sight of a strong Haitian-Canadian woman and national leader expressing solidarity with a community of Inuit while eating food from a traditional hunt, and rich white people going haywire and crying 'barbaric', is just too priceless for words. (Yes, there is a major racist/colonialist element here.)
