russia declares war on canada -- good for canadians?

. . . apparently the dispute is escalating. a russian fighter jet supposedly violated diplomatic rules by approaching canadian airspace when president obama was in ottawa for his visit and now russia is threatening to beef up its military presence in the canadian arctic considerably over the next few years. but the canadian government says no way. is all-out war with russia looming on the horizon for the canadian government? could a war with russia be a good thing? that'd be one way to shake things up in this country and maybe get some change. which side would you cheer for -- the russian government that's done nothing to harm you in any way . . . OR the canadian government that steps on human rights, the canadian government that denies international visitors no entry for no reason, the canadian government that unjustly jails and steals from its citizens?

Can't we fight somewhere with a nice climate. Not too hot or cold, rain a few times a week would be nice. Perhaps an English speaking nation

The real conflict - over Arctic oil and gas reserves - is between Russia and the U.S., but for sure Canada will be used as a proxy by our friend Obama.

We are not fighting anywhere.

Agreed Pride for RD!

Even the title of this thread bothers me.

Russia has not "declared war" on Canada.

And it wouldn't be just Canada - NATO would be drawn in as well, wouldn't it?

And war will be even be more shocking so where is Mr. Harper coming from, as dipolmacy and tact are reguired in such situations as we are a peace loving bunch?  So yes lets harp on Harpo to let him know this is just not acceptable and what are they thinking.   Didn't Canada just undergo some kinda off beat humor by fox for its inability to defend itself or anyone else for that matter because they were ill equipped for battle.    Peace brother and maybe Mr. Harper could take a few lessons from Russia's leader when its comes to being some kinda fellow who cared enough to stop the slaughtering of baby seals.

And does that make Harper a hypocrite as he promotes animal welfare on his web site but its not what he practices?

I don't think I'll do too well trying to learn Russian, so let's hope it doesn't come to that.

You don't need to speak the language but diplomacy and tact are what is required of the job.  Nothing less.  And it couldn't hurt for Harper to learn from Russia as it stops the slaughtering of baby seals.  Actually it would do just that stop the hurting.  I like Canada because it has remained neutral to much of the worlds events as it has offered a supporting hand in times of need.

I'll be happy when the solders are finally finished with a war they should never have been in and are finally returned home and put a stop to the maddness of the needless deaths of Canadian soilders.
