Vancouver police hit and torture first, ask questions later; racial bias perhaps?
Speaking through a translator, Yao Wei Wu told CBC News that as soon as he opened the door the officers pulled him out of the house and beat him.
He was hit multiple times on the back, head and face, said Yao, 44.
He said he did not resist because the men had guns.
It was only after they handcuffed him and asked his name that they appeared to realize they had the wrong man, Yao said.
The officers then called for an ambulance and a Chinese-speaking police officer.
Yao was taken to hospital where he said doctors found fractured bones around his eye and multiple bruises on his back.
The officers didn't realize there were two separate residences in the house, McGuinness said.
So what McGuinness, and indeed the Vancouver police?
That is a thought terminating cliche and nothing more.
This man's knees are even a mess where they beat him around them, plus of course the other injuries he sustained in the news reports.
Even if they had the correct house, their behaviour is wrong, and they need to be fired.
People should be calling the Mayor's office and screaming in outrage over the obvious police state and IMV racially biased actions of the Van police.
I hope I was not the only person appalled when I heard the police spin. Imagine they apologized for beating up the wrong person leaving the assumption that they thought that pulling someone out of an apartment and beating them senseless is normal operating procedure. They didn't even identify the man before they beat him for not being subservient enough to them. So what is the definition of a police sate?
i was serious before when I said I think our police forces will now use far more force until the public cries out for the Taser as a better alternative.
I was saying the same thing this morning when I was lying in bed half asleep listening to the news on the clock radio. This story came on, and the police issued an apology for getting the wrong guy. And I started ranting groggily, "So if they'd had the right guy it would've been okay to beat the crap out of him and bust his face up!?"
Maybe I should set the clock radio to a classical music station.

Damn right how can you beat up the wrong person they shouldn't be beating up anyone. I hope the police involved loose their jobs and spend some time in jail there is no excuse for that. You would think with the spotlight on the west that the police would tone down shit like this. [Though it still should never have happened]
I really wonder what the hell is going on with the police out west. From city police to RCMP.
Out west?
FFS!
Yeah, didn't you know? All our bad cops move out there. :D
Seriously though - remind is right - we've got our share out east here too. :)
The whole lot of them need a serious attitude change.
Aw, I thought we were gonna have a good debate on whose cops are nicer!
Okay okay sorry guys and girls!
I just meant out west because the majority of articles I've read on here have pointed out bad behavior by police out west, especially the RCMP out there!
You're right when you say we have our fair share out east too!

That's because the RCMP acts as both a provincial and municipal force for most places out west. Vancouver is one of the exceptions with its own force.
Most of the RCMP officers are not from here.
Toronto, Montreal, London, OPP, and SQ cops all give the Mounties a run for their money for police brutality. Mostly they like to focus on poor, POC, indigenous, young and/or queer people to assualt. But there was a case when the London cops murdered a 65 year old guy for not having a light on his bike. No joke, "things went bad", man died and the cops were found to be not at fault.
Every larger center in Western Canada, i.e. the capital plus at least one or two of the next biggest cities, have their own municipal police departments. I grew up out West. Even the piddly Regina City Police department in 1969 or so fatally shot a First Nations kid in the back, running from a convenience store robbery, without a weapon. He was 17 or something. Cop got nothing I think.
My dad organized a protest in front of the police department that summer in Regina. After the national media covered it, my dad got a death threat in the mail, postmarked from a small town in Saskatchewan.

Wake up to Jazz 91.1 and you will feel better. You have all the rest of the day for all the bad things in the world.
I just thought this could use a good BUMP on the head with a nightstick.

nice try , wiseguy,
Hey lonewolf guy. Making a joke about violence, in a thread about racialized violence, is not okay. Stop it.
Hey G.Muffin. I know lonewolfguy isn't your favourite babbler, but it's not okay to post things from other forums that he's written. Please cease.
Hey RP. Don't add to a bad situation.
Okay, I've ceased. Do you want me to desist as well?
Never, G.Muffin.
I love it in the morning when sanity reigns once again.
