Golf deductions
Can this be true? Surely not:
Some MPs, led (it seems) by the NDP, think this is a good moment in history to begin pressing for a tax deduction for golfers. The All Party Golf Caucus was formed last year with one overriding goal: to convince the government that golf games are a valid business expense, worthy of a 50% tax deduction.
NDP MP Peter Stoffer, who assembled the caucus, said a lot has changed since 1972, when tax write-offs for golf-related expenses were scrapped. Driving, chipping and putting is not only for corporate fat cats anymore, he said, now that more than six million Canadians play golf — even more than play hockey.
“It was considered an elitist sport, that only the rich and wealthy play golf,” he said. “Today, golf is main street.”
Triple bogey for Bill! Already being ridiculed here.
aw blush...I looked for it first, honest.
