Referendum on the Security Perimeter Agreement

Iam writing this letter because I am worried for the survival of my country. The small amount of media coverage discussing the North American Secuirty Perimeter agreement, due to be signed this summer, is pitiful. No public debate has been made, no importance has been tagged to the issue, and no one seems to care if Canadians want to harmonize border security and law enforcment to the USA or not. This agreement will bring the TSA groping searches to our country, it will bring Department of Homeland Security spying and abuses, and will mean FBI profiling and terrorist fear-mongering of independant citizens. It will allow America to imprison Canadians, and will likely lead to some Draconian and Pro-corporate laws which America is renowned for. All of these things should fill up Harper's new $8 billion prison system quite nicely. The American governments leadership in stamping out internet liberties will likely be transported north with this agreement too, maybe even their disastrous economics and militarism. Demand a referendum on this subject. Send this letter to Prime Minister Harper at pm@pm.gc.ca or write your won but we all must begin discussing the possibly end of Canadian sovereignty.

To: Prime Minister Stephan Harper

Congratulations on you recent electoral victory.

As a concerned Canadian citizen it is my duty to kindly request that any upcoming Security Perimeter Agreements being negotiated with the United States Government be firstly brought forth to the Canadian people in a national referendum. Democracy is being fumbled south of the border, Mr. Prime Minister, and as my elected leader I feel it is your responsibility to allow we the people, to decide on our nation's fate and future.

I recognized with a Conservative majority government you could sign such an agreement without ANY consultation with Canadians like myself. This appears to be the path you're taking. Is this the legacy you desire? I deplore you to resist the pressures and influences which have hijacked our neighbour in the South, and daily bring it closer to economic ruin and global pariah status. Let the Canadian people decide our country's fate before you sign our 'security' and laws over to American ownership. After all it is we, the citizens of this great northern confederation, which you represent in the halls of power. Canadians do NOT want the Military-Industrial complex, Department of Homeland Security or their fear-mongering ways to hold sway over our lands, resources and leadership.

Mr. Prime Minister, please strive to represent Canadian democracy and sovereignty. Allow this historically significant decision, that you remain so hesitant to discuss and sell to the public, to be put forward in a nationwide referendum. Canadian democracy and our national existence may very well depend on your decision Mr. Prime Minister. Let the people decide.

God Bless, Mr Harper. Don't sign away our nation!

Signed: A Concerned Canadian
