A compendium of political antics and responses to them.
Recently, someone attended the nomination meeting for the NDP in Richmond Hill and recorded the meeting. This individual then waited for the Elementary Teachers to endorse the NDP, before contacting the local newspaper with what appeared to be a contradictory comment by the successful NDP candidate.https://www.yorkregion.com/news-story/8601384-richmond-hill-ndp-candidat... It appears the spy was sent by the Liberals, since the recording can be found on their website https://ontarioliberal.ca/news/5af4466b9b36dd1f127b77bb?l=en Although it was unreported, the candidate seemed to walk back the statement at the meeting, and you can hear how speculative the statement is from the recording. The recording is very carefully edited to remove this context.
Most of us would probably file this under dirty politics. The questions are: Is this illegal?, and What should meetings do to guard against this?
