Vancouver-area rabble/babble holiday bash - December 6th
Is 2011 almost over already? Oh dear. Something must be done. Luckily, rabble.ca is hosting a holiday shindig for its Vancouver-area babblers, bloggers, contributors and staffers.

Come by The Railway Club at 579 Dunsmuir Street on Tuesday, December 6th between 5pm and 7pm for a best-coast babble bang-up!
I've already had the pleasure of meeting Michael Nenonen, wage zombie and CMOT_Dibbler, so I hope they can all make this get-together. But I'd also like to meet other BC babblers--I'm thinking of Ripple, epaulo13, Lachine Scot, theleftyinvestor, Vansterdam Kid, Left Turn, NorthReport, Pogo, Stuart Parker, Centrist, Northern Shoveler, lil.Tommy, ghoris, bekayne, Basement Dweller...who am I missing?
With some luck, maybe even an islander or two (ikosmos, Brian White, I'm looking in your direction!) can get in on the action.
Here's a link to the venue on google maps
Drop by! There will be snacks!
Love the picture. :D Heres' the video to go with it.
Communist Christmas
Ha! I suspect that Chairman Meow is a closet Republican provocateur though.
Hah, I'm flattered to be called out by name. I could maybe make it.
I'd like to come but agreed yesterday to attend my BCNDP riding association meeting at 6pm the same night. I will ask them how long their meeting goes, and if I can be there a couple hours later.
5 - 7pm seems early for Babble get together but I guess it's during the week.
Arrgh. That's a shame about the riding association meeting. I imagine we'll be there at least until 8pm, and as long as anyone wished to stay, but we wanted to make it an early evening thing to make sure people can make it--there are loads of other holiday parties for other organizations next month (we had hell getting a venue--and this one is not wheelchair accessible, which is totally shitty). Hope to see you there, wz.
And you too, leftyinvestor!
Hmm, I'll try to make it too. But, seeing as I've only ever met two other babblers (who don't post anymore) how will I know who is there for the event?
I'm pretty sure we'll be in the back section near the stage, but at any rate we'll have a big rabble.ca banner. If you want to find me just look for the best-looking guy in the room. I'll stand next to him.
I'll hoist a point on the East Coast even though the starting time is getting precariously close to my bedtime. 8^)

Cool, you're bringing the baby to the drink fest. And I'm missing it.
Aww, it's probably for the best, Maysie. We wouldn't want you passing out in the middle of the bar from cute overload--what would that do to your reputation?
You'll meet him soon enough, I promise!
Dude, you're kidding, right? Are we talking about the same Maysie who posts cute kitty videos and pics? Reputation my foot. :D
Hmm. I'd like to go to this, if I can get back from Kelowna in time. I'll try to make it, if only so Vansterdam doesn't have to sit by himself all evening. :P
To Michelle:
Will personal flotation devices be on hand in the event the long overdue earthquake strikes and the city slides into the Strait?
JTT, it would be great if you could make it--I still remember our chess game in the great babble cat-herding/chess tournament (still ongoing) of yore. A famous draw if I recall correctly.
Aside: I found out TODAY that the other, less famous JTT--Jonathan Taylor Thomas, heartthrob supreme circa. 1996--lives in Kitsilano! I wonder if we could get him to come to endorse our party and boost attendance?
@bagkitty, we can just use the detritus of inflatable Stanley Cups which have littered our streets since the Spring and no longer seem needed.
I'd like to come, but I usually don't leave the office until close to 7 (or later). I might pop in anyways since the Railway Club is more or less on the way home from work.

Cool. I just hope you don't do another one of your "live theatre" Charlie Sheen "impressions"... this time. It isn't #winning. :P
@ghoris, this will go to at least 8pm--so I hope you try to make it.
Also: bump!
The timing isn't good for me as I'm going to a funeral and preparing for some exams but maybe I could send a note that could be read at the get-together or something like that? Anyway, have fun!!

Fine. I'll leave the machete at home. You sure know how to ruin a guy's fun.
..been waiting to see how things went. am working on a project that is at a crucial point and i can't spare the time just now. plus i'm not feeling well so i just can't make it. next time!
Too bad. Next time, ep!
Bump. It's today!
Has the pre-party started yet, Catchfire?
The wee spark and I have been celebrating his cold since 3am if that's what you mean.
Given the time difference I guess was eating breakfast while you and the wee bairn started the party.
Sorry to hear about the sick babe. I'll be stopping by the Railway after work, though, so I hope you'll still be able to make it.

Too bad. I've been wondering whether you found a publisher.
Well, let me sneak in a hyvää joulua before someone from the "I hate Christmas" crashes the thread.
Well, me and my girl will be dropping by. Shame you can't make it Michael. I'll see all those who care to attend later tonight.
Looking forward to meeting you all--Michael, it's a shame you can't make it. There will be more of these, though.
How went the party?
Well, golly, it sure was nice meeting Ripple, wage zombie, Vansterdam Kid and Jacob Two-Two last night. Having five babblers together on the West Coast at the same time last night broke some kind of record. Duncan Cameron tried to recruit us all to the Peggy Nash campaign and alex made sure no one ordered shots of tequila off the company credit card.
Thanks to everyone who could make it! To those who couldn't, too bad: but we'll try to get another one of these things going soonish in the new year!
Yeah it was cool to meet/see those of you who came out.
Also, as an added bonus, no one was an axe murderer or carrying Bubonic Plague, which is always nice when you're meeting people for the first time.
Well, or we just managed to keep it under wraps. Either way, you have to admire our tact.
And I promise not to hold ditching us for the Carnegie crowd against you and JTT. If it was good enough for Ellen Woodsworth, it should be good enough for you.
It was great to meet some babblers. Jacob Two-Two must have arrived after I left, but Alex has posted to babble a time or two (I know she's a suit, but I think it still counts).
