Eid Mubarak!

Eid Mubarak, friends.  Let me tell you what's been going on in my home today ...

Mr. Ripple and our kids went to mosque early this morning, dressed in their Friday finest.  Not being Muslim,  I didn't go, though would have been welcomed had I so chosen.  Instead, I made a fantastic breakfast - eggs, waffles, toast, sausage, hashbrowns, cantaloupe, strawberries, cherries, blueberries, green apples, coffee and juice.

My son tells me the imam talked a lot about men and women and boys and girls being equal before God.  Women and men prayed side by side in the hall, many mosques coming together for Eid prayers.  Mostly, our kids played quietly with other children.

They came home wearing BC Muslim Association  ribbons, and we had a discussion about the BCMA intervention at the Burnaby school board.  Thank you, NS.  Neither of us had been aware of that before.  As in the peace/antiwar movement, Mr. Riipple argues, he can't tailor the movement to his social agenda.  And sometimes it's good to be with the uma (community).

Mr. Ripple lit the charcoal to slow roast a leg of lamb and a chicken.  We decorated and set the table, and had a passel of friends join us for supper.  They've just left us, hopefully happy, well fed, and in peace.

Al salamu alaykum (Peace be upon you).
