Here, for your interest, is a blog/article I wrote on the issue of gender discrimination in academia, specifically in the arenas of science and engineering. The article features the recent negative experiences of two Canadian professors: Dr. Galina Okouneva (formerly of Ryerson University in Toronto) and Dr. Monique Dubé (formerly of the University of Saskatchewan).
I took the Techology program in high skule - no women in our classes at all, other than in English and related classes. That was back in the 1960s, I had presumed things have changed since then.
