Okay, so now oldgoat told me a trick that works but only for each individual post for getting the formatting bar back. You click "input format" and then "full HTML" below, and then refresh the page. Then you get the formatting bar, but only for that post. Then the next post (e.g. this one) it resets the window with no formatting bar. ARGH.
Sorry, I know that's not the topic of this reactions thread, but I didn't want to bother starting a new one.
Interesting - the "filtered HTML" input format option works too. I wonder if there's somewhere in the account settings where I can set that up!
