Yes, I know you are knew to moderating. I opened a thread in rabble reactions and got nothing but another "I'm closing this thread". Lou, perhaps you can try to be a little like Maysie, Michelle and Oldgoat. Instead of dismissing our concerns, closing the thread and then repeating the BS about "criminal activities" perhaps you can ENGAGE with us as to WHY you think it is a "criminal activity".
You made that call. No one else. I think you made the wrong call. I am no legal scholar but I'm also not a fool.

Lou, seriously, it would be wise of you to start listening to the people here on this board. A lot of up support rabble through donations and with our heart and souls. Many of us have posted things we would never feel safe posting elsewhere. You have to start listening to us and not shutting down dissent every time you don't like it. At least have the decency to engage me in a longer explanation than "criminal activities".

I remember when I started moderating how I got my head kicked around the block a number of times. I'm being reminded of those times, and I'd rather not see that happen to Lou. There are ways to question and even disagree, which are just plain less unpleasant. I don't think we'll ever get anyone to volunteer moderate.
Now, I haven't looked at the thread yet, but it sounds like Lou was concerned about the possibility of libel. That is one of the things a moderator is supposed to do. If there are accusations of criminal activity, rabble could be liable. I'll go and look at the other thread and see what's going on.
BTW, when people refer to threads could they please please please make links? I probably don't get to read 10% of the active threads, and likely don't know what people are talking about when they refer to a problem, but I think I know what this one is.

I agree it is not easy wading in here and I understand Lou's concern. I take issue though with stiffling dissent by simply closing a thread with no feedback given other's concerns.That's all.

Oldgoat, the thread is here. If in fact it is potentially libellous (which I'm no expert on either, but I can't see it personally), you had better delete the offending posts - no? Perhaps explain that to Lou, that just closing the thread doesn't do squat in terms of liability.
