The site will be down this Wednesday between 6pm and 9pm EST. Many apologies for the inconvenience!
Hope the continuing problems get fixed. I'm still geting "validation error" and "page not available" messages five or six months after the upgrade.
Me too. It's a pain, but hopefully the fix will come tomorrow evening.
Glad to hear that.
I certainly hope rabble has made alternate arrangements to keep us entertained for those three hours! We might have to talk to our families or something otherwise.
No worries, Michelle. I got you covered.
Oh come on, I'm always talking to my family.
One sec! Just one sec please! I'm just handling an emergency! Someone is wrong on babble!
I wonder if babble is so busy today because it goes down tomorrow?
Yay! Snuck two in!
Michelle! Good to see you! I guess it is like quitting facebook makes you spend more time face to face with friends?
Fingers crossed those nasty validations errors are behind us. I know we can count on you to let us know if you come across any.
one last time with new button label
Yay "Post Comment"! At last, progress.
a little thing
please give me an error
Just got 'Validation Error' trying to post....
I had trouble getting on this morning, along with the "page not available" message, but it seems okay now. What happened this morning?
Same here. Rabble.ca was totally down for maybe half hour.
Hopefully just a one-off.
Serious problems remain. Just a few minutes ago I posted something here, and it did not post.
And, for 24 hours everytime I tried to get on babble I got this message:
The page you requested is temporarily unavailable.
We're redirecting you to the homepage in 5 seconds.
(Error 503 Service Unavailable)
testing, testing, testing
so, what's going on???
So, in one of our ongoing attempts to solve the validation errors and some load time issues, we have switched rabble to different servers -- that happened Wednesday afternoon (evening to you Eastern overlords). Because of the way babble functions, it has produced some very long load times while the site updates its cache (I think that's the best way to explain it, although I don't 100% understand it myself). This will improve over time as the servers cache babble. There are some other speedbumps along the way (like yesterday's crash). Thanks again for your Job-like patience, babblers.
I made a couple of posts in two separate threads and they did not show up either in the thread or on TAT.
Things will get sorted out. In the meanwhile you might want to hire a sherpa to navigate some of those speed bumps.
All I want for Christmas is a fully functional, hassle-free babble.ca.
It was good to see you too! And yes, I hardly ever even miss Facebook! Although I do like being able to share pictures with people. Haven't found a very good way of continuing to do that. And I'm not much of a tweeter. I try to tweet here and there, but just can't get addicted to it. Which is probably a good thing too!
Now THAT is an addictive site!
I found this cool thing there. I find it relaxing, but way too much of a time-waster!
Couldn't access babble for an hour last night, and just got the "page not available" message when I posted on another thread.

It took me a while to get that one, but yeah, that one's one of my faves.

I guess that's where this comes in.
Still getting all the same error messages as before, and I have to send the post three or four times before it gets through.
hmm, sorry about that Boom Boom, but thanks for the update and patience.
Our tech team is working on it though, still working out a few kinks -- I cleared out my browser history/cache/cookies and found that really helped things. (this could be unrelated though)
Yeah, I clean out everything every night before I go to bed. Makes no difference whatsoever. Got the "page not available" message just trying to log on to babble. I think we're stuck with this until we get a new platform altogether.
This "babble update" was introduced last August if I recall correctly. Subsequent shutdowns of babble to give the techs time to correct the problem have been fruitless as far as I can see. The current babble platform is probably now corrupted beyond repair.
Oh - and Happy Christmas!
@Boom Boom, Merry Christmas indeed!
Soon enough we'll get all sorted out and ready to go, and then as an afterword, we can all write the trials and tribulations of babble
