Why is Rabble now sidelining Babblers in its comments section?

It used to be that comments on articles in Rabble came exclusively from signed in Babblers.  Now, that's not even an option.  Instead, the only option to comment on articles in Rabble requires signing into either Google, Facebook, Disqus, or Twitter.  I can see including these options, but I don't understand the rationale of now excluding Babblers when it comes to commenting upon articles on Rabble.

Already being discussed, at length and with much passion, [url=http://rabble.ca/babble/rabble-reactions/can-no-longer-comment-on-articl....

And there was this excellent blog post by our very own radiorahim:

[url=http://rabble.ca/blogs/bloggers/radiorahim/2015/02/finally-you-can-tell-... you can tell rabble.ca what you think. As long as you sign up to a third-party data mining service.[/url]

And do pointless battle with an assortment of rightwing shits. It is really a pity.

Thanks.  Very interesting.  I still don't understand why Rabble chose to go this route.

it seems to be common on other publications online.    maybe it will invite more outside participation.   i must admit to being surprised there was no need to sign into rabble to comment, already signed in via my facebook.

For whatever it's worth, it's actually pretty easy to set up a Disqus account.  it's free, too.

Huh? I'm not signed up with Google, Facebook, Disqus, or Twitter, and I'm still able to comment just by going to "log in".

Do you mean that you have to join one of those other sites in order to register?

Just for clarity - we're not talking about babble, which is same as always. We're talking about commenting directly underneath articles on rabble.ca (columns, blogs, etc.), which used to be possible to do with your babble login, but is no longer possible. If you are able to comment on articles just with your babble login, reveal your secret please lol!

Oh, sorry. I misunderstood.

Yeah, I haven't been able to comment on those rabble.ca articles for months now. I thought it was because the operating systems over here were all outdated, but now I guess it's probably because of the new sign-in policy.
