Today I'm writing my blog all about Internet activism and community resistance. I'm featuring tools that can be used by community members to organize against mining, factory farms and highlighting tech guides that could keep other activists safer online. I'll even plug my latest podcast, Constructing Change: Decolonizing activism somewhere before my weekly roundup. Then I might have some tea. Just thought you should know. #tellvictoewseverything

On Valentine's Day, hundreds of children protested on Parliament Hill for equal rights for First Nations children waiting for real schools. They sang, read letters they wrote begging Harper to "have a heart" and waved their homemade signs. Youth activists are some of the most technologically savvy and dedicated campaigners. They still need an activist education and guidance, but there's a lot to be said about their passion and belief in change. This week's tools will help you mobilize and educate youth activists.

It's getting to be that time of year again: roses appearing in the middle of winter, chocolate flying off the shelves... it must be almost time to Occupy Valentines Day!  What's more passionate than fighting for social justice? As the validity of same-sex marriage for non-residents is thrown into question and striking workers outside the Ottawa Booth street Salvation Army fall out of the mainstream media, you begin to wonder: how do you get reliable, alternative information about these and other important issues? This week at the toolkit we're holding politicians accountable, for their policies, for inaction on our history and for systemic oppressions.

Now that the holidays are officially over, people are trudging back to school, work and everyday life. What welcomes us back isn't always something to look forward to: more news of human right violations, workplace exploitation and organizing objectives that can seem overwhelming. Luckily this week's toolkit is all about offering practical guides, breaking down those mammoth objectives into something positive you can do this week.

2011 has given activists a lot to strive for and there's no better time to continue creating revolutions than at the beginning of a fresh new year. While others might be starting a new diet or breaking an old habit, it's up to activists to shape 2012 by strengthening their resolve to change the world. Here are a few ideas:

10. We Demand. This historic protest for queer rights was the first of its size in Canada and set off a series of legislation changes and challenges to homophobia. Activists today can learn a lot from looking back at the successes and missteps of the protest.

Another year is coming to an end! For activists, this is a year of accomplishments, of occupations, dedication and forced mainstream recognition.
