This past Friday and Saturday, Council of Canadians chapters were out on the street to express their solidarity with the Idle No More movement in at least 16 communities.

Photos were sent to us by chapter activists at Idle No More protests in Vancouver, Williams Lake, Westbank, Courtenay, Nanaimo, Campbell River, Calgary, Edmonton, London, Guelph, Toronto, Peterborough, Ottawa, Halifax, Charlottetown, and Tatamagouche. Those photos are now in the process of being posted to http://www.flickr.com/photos/councilofcanadians/.

Also, the Guelph chapter was visible on the CBC National News report on Saturday which can be viewed here.

Coming up

An Idle No More statement on Friday noted, “Idle No More grassroots founders and organizers from across Canada, in solidarity with Common Causes-a new initiative bringing together social justice, environmental, labour and other activist groups-are planning a national and worldwide day of action on January 28, 2013. This day of action will peacefully protest attacks on democracy, Indigenous sovereignty, human rights and environmental protections when Canadian MPs return to the House of Commons on January 28th.”
