I’ve been out of communication since my launch update. This is not because I went on holiday. I would “love” to go on holiday. But it’s this little matter of flogging the publicity horse.

Hi gang,

It’s going to be a busy weekend press-wise. This Thursday, May 9, Susan Cole of NOW will be doing a print review of Night Town.

Hey there! I know it’s been more than a week, but what a week+ it’s been. The writing’s finished, but the publicity machine is slowly assembling itself around me, like a promotional exoskeleton.

Here are just a few parts of the beast, a.k.a. what publicity and press people historically have brought to the party, but are now part of the writers’ responsibilities.

Are you ready folks? Drum roll please……….

We have a pub date: May 13th, 2013 

A time: 6 pm - 8ish pm

And a place to launch my baby …

The Imperial Pub, 54 Dundas St. E, just a stone’s throw from Yonge Street.

Last Friday, at Emily’s recommendation, I wandered in and instantly knew that the Imperial was perfect.

First off the whole place just screams Toronto 1970s.

Howdy! I’m feeling like a cowgirl today who is rounding up the cattle after a long drive back to the ranch.

I've picked my cover. Yep, it’s fabulous, and nope ... I'm not showing you.

This has been one heck of a, dare I say it?, fantastically optimistic week with all kinds of good news! (And grammatical inconsistencies, but I don’t care because it’s the Internet, and nobody cares about grammar on the Internet, or at least they’re not supposed to.)

First, I’m over the moon happy cuz I hired a designer to create my book cover. Her name is Lisa Kiss and her work is fantastic. Here’s a tasty morsel.

It’s me. Inferno Girl. And I’m waiting. Waiting in the hell pit. Spend enough time in the pit, and you’ll start getting weird in the head. If there are other writers out there, you know all about getting weird in the head. 

It’s not pleasant. Not one bit. However, apparently it is to be expected and is the way of the new publishing model I have chosen to live in.

Well the final edit is finally done, over and out, finito, out the damn door, here’s your hat -- what’s your hurry? If anybody ever tells you that they love the process of rewriting, they’re lying. They’re like one of those people who says that they love to diet, adore clearing, one of their fave things in the world is getting up at 5 a.m. in the morning to work out. As I said earlier, they’re lying.

So my work is done and now it’s Miller Time. Nope, it’s time to officially begin promoting Night Town and you know what?

Hey all

It’s the new year and I have a question for you. Do you think it’s possible for a group of people to collaborate on a novel?

In the world today many things are open source, with all kinds of people contributing their unique skills to bring a better product to market. Think about the Internet itself. I don’t think it would have come into being had it not been for a group of  nerds determined to create the darned thing.

It needed a crowd to make it happen.

Can the same thing be done with a novel?  Is “we better than me?”
