CNN reports this morning, "Protesters plan to hold hands and encircle the White House on Sunday to demand President Barack Obama reject a proposed oil pipeline that would stretch from Canada to Texas."

In just a few hours, about 5,000 people are expected to converge on Lafayette Square, a small park just north of the White House, for the #Surround action against the Keystone XL pipeline.

About 50 marshalls will help to move thousands to E Street (south of the White House), 15th Street (to the east), 17th Street (to the west), and H Street (to the north) to form a 1.6 kilometre circle around the White House.

The rally begins at 2 pm ET, with the action to follow. Council of Canadians chairperson Maude Barlow is the lead speaker at the rally back at Lafayette Square immediately following the #Surround action.

Last night, Tar Sands Action, the main organizers for today, Tweeted, "Bill McKibben takes the mic: 'when we started, we had a 1000:1 shot, now we're in a real fight'.

Stay tuned.
