At Hello Cool World, we really are dreamers and it's a good thing too. We dream of tools for social change, amplification engines for all our visions of alternative futures. The dream is what keeps me going.

We also like to think we are Rabble rousers! And what we are working on now will definitely be rousing, we hope, for those who create or participate in social cause media. We are applying to the Canadian Film Centre's IdeaBOOST program, to kickstart our "Dream Machine" - an open source distribution platform for media with a progressive message, which is really about connecting both content and communities for the 'cause.'

So we expect a major topic of the chat will relate to last week's Supreme Court decision ordering the Conservative government to allow Insite to stay open."

In the feature documentary, Raw Opium: Pain, Pleasure, Profits premiering at DOXA documentary festival on May 7, we meet people from around the world whose lives are caught in the grasp of opium and the heroin that's made from it -- farmers, users and law enforcement officers. One of them is Derek -- a heroin user who's able to get clean needles and access to rehabilitation services at the Insite Clinic in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

We are proud to announce the launch of our new TV commercial (PSA or Public Service Announcement) created to launch the Movement for Organ Donation, #4Eva. The PSA, directed by Nimisha Mukerji using footage from her film 65_RedRoses, was sponsored by BC Transplant as part of "Live Life. Pass it On." -- a province-wide campaign to promote organ donor registrations. The PSA will also be airing in Ontario thanks to Trillium Gift of Life!

We did it! We managed to survive our first decade as a company that only takes on work we love and causes we believe in!

We've been most famous for our work on The Corporation, but on our V-Day B-day as we are flirtingly calling it, we are highlighing a decade of sex work -- sexual health education that is sexy!

On Valentine's Day we are launching our newest campaign -- That's So Sexy, which includes 2 PSAs which will be on TV which we created in partnership with Opt. We've launched a website ThatsSoSexy.com that showcases all our sex ed projects, campaigns and clients.

We are on a mission to put sex in advertising where it belongs! Promoting safer sex in a way we think is going to be effective -- by making it sexy!

Just in case you've been out of the loop, here's a friendly reminder about Opt's 50th Anniversary and Gala Celebration! This event is a fundraiser for Options for Sexual Health celebrating half a century as B.C.'s largest non-profit provider of sexual health information and services. 

With 2010 wrapping up quickly, this event is inching closer and closer and to make sure this fundraiser is a success, we need your help spreading the word...

In February we started working on our Hello Cool World vision. One strong area we felt we wanted to work on was to really make our online store a successful way to raise money and a new model for funding the campaigning efforts of our friends. As our 'regulars' will know - with the makers of The Corporation film,we are working on building a movement to change the corporate form, funded by our online store. With The Corporation, however, we are still only re-sellers of the DVDS, which we have to buy from our distributors, which doesn't leave much for the campaign.
