A night of belly dance, classical Indian dance, burlesque, indie rock, short films, food and drink. Part of the revitalize MILE-EX and alternative PRIDE movement. First-ever PRIDE event in Park-X.
Food and a drink are included in the ticket. It is a fundraiser for DOGGONED.

A talented team of passionate filmmakers is hosting a fundraiser for their new short film DOGGONED to be shot on super16 right here in the Mile End / Parc Ex / Plateau area! We need your help in order to raise $5000 needed for the production. We promise you a night of live music, short films, DJ sets, silent auctions and great food!
DOGGONED:
Based on urban legend, DOGGONED is a short, comedic film about a non-status, hipster, brown girl whose work permit has been denied so she must rely on odd jobs and a wild imagination in order to make ends meet. DOGGONED promises to be a beautiful film with a social message!
Director Arshad Khan has several short films and documentaries to his credit. He is preparing his feature film script and has recently made the short film BROWNIE which is making the festival circuit.
Director of Photography Oliver Millar has several short films, videos and feature length films to his credit.
Production Designer Chelsea Owen is an award winning filmmaker with a great sensibility for art and design.
Art Director Alexandra Brown is a graduate of Concordia with a great eye for beauty.
Sound Designer Sacha Ratcliffe is a graduate of Concordia film production as well.
Production Manager Adam Reider is a brilliant Montreal filmmaker with the film Dogsitter premiering at the Fantasia film festival.
Assistant Director Jordan Kaufman is a talented writer and a Masters student in film studies at Concordia.
Ethan Chang is the fundraising coordinator and second AD. He has just returned from working on Ang Lee’s Life of Pi.

Depuis que j’ai fait mon documentaire politique Threadbare, plusieurs d’entre vous vouliez voir d’autres de mes films. J’ai décidé de retourner à l’école étudier le cinéma. Je travaille en ce moment sur des courts-métrages de fiction et sur un projet de long-métrage.
Mon projet le plus récent s’appelle Doggoned. C’est l’histoire d’une jeune étudiante asiatique qui essaie de se trouver un emploi lorsque son permis de travail est refusé. C’est une comédie d’humour noir qui traite d’un enjeu social important au Canada.
J’ai besoin de votre aide pour réaliser Doggoned. Je vais tourner en format super 16 (un format visuellement éblouissant, qui a récemment été utilisé pour le film Black Swan). Le coût est toutefois élevé. Je viens de lancer la levée de fonds en ligne dans le but d’amasser les 5000$ nécessaires à cette production.
Si vous êtes à Montréal, nous tiendrons une soirée bénéfice le 13 août 2011.

Je me servirai de ce court-métrage comme modèle pour produire et financer mon long-métrage Faultline, qui est présentement en développement. Veuillez passer le mot et dites à vos amis que le cinéma politique indépendant est bien vivant au Canada et que des artistes s’affairent à faire du bon travail malgré les compressions gouvernementales.
