The deets:

Meet at High park Subway exit Quebec Ave
Toronto, ON

The call-out:

CAMP SIS RUN FOR RENOS: Total 5 km

INFO ON CAMP SIS: On 75 acres just two hours north of Toronto.

It is a very spiritual ground with plenty of sunshine, lovely rolling meadows, old growth forest with a natural spring, beaver pond and an organic garden.

The Camp was bought in 1994 and built by Women of Colour and their women allies. MWIC is a place for healing, education, and the arts. Non-profit fundraising has always been and remains our only source of income to pay taxes etc.

The staff is made up of volunteers.

The land is available for free for women and trans to camp as singles or groups, or hold free events or workshops.

While CAMP SIS has been used as a get-away for aboriginal women from six nations, its availability year round has been limited. The group would like to be able to use the grounds all year — we need your help! This is a shout-out to all the sisters in struggle to make this happen.

We are looking for fairy godmothers and humanitarians who can donate funding, labour and or supplies.

Supplies include: Insulation (for walls and roof); Vapor barrier tongue and groove wood (to cover walls); Flooring; T&G Furnace (pipes); Wood stove (4 cords hardwood); Cupboards; Sleeping bags; bed frames; and solar lights.

We dream of one day having running water, indoor plumbing, hot water and solar fridges for CAMP SIS.

Help the Toronto Women of Colour Collective make this possible!

CAMP SIS is now 17 years old. It remains community owned by the Toronto Women of Colour Collective and open to all women. For the past few summers, CAMP SIS has been used as a get-away healing space for aboriginal women from six nations. Our goal is to make the camp accessible throughout the year. This is a shout-out to all the sisters in struggle to make this happen!

There is a need for insulation and vapour barrier wood for the walls to winterize two buildings. We are in need of female power, labour and donations in order to make the changes this summer. Please come out to support and celebrate women with us!
Camp Sis is looking for new members, campers, nature lovers, partnerships with other women`s groups, two-spirited trans women, artists, builders, activists and organizers — sisters who will be sisters in equality for a better world.

The land was bought by the labour of countless women who fundraised in the Toronto community. Non-profit fundraising has always been and remains our only source of income to pay taxes etc. The staff is made up of volunteers. It is non-profit community owned and we have built two large barn style pine buildings on the land (each building is approximately 40 x 30).

The land is organized and facilitated by the Toronto Women Of Colour Collective

Do Please make check payable to CAMP SIS . At present we are in process of getting back our charitable tax number.
