Blog created September 28th. Last update October 16.
Here's a heads-up on the growing #Occupy movement, in solidarity with #OccupyWallStreet, @OccupyToronto, and the countless other @Occupy movements across the world.
I'll be updating this page when more Occupy demonstrations are announced.
Save the date for the national Occupy Canada actions: Saturday, October 15, 2011.
But first I ask you to check out this important information regarding the #Occupy movement, or should I say Occupy(ed) since Turtle Island is occupied territory. To learn more, please read Jessica Yee's piece here: OCCUPY WALL STREET: The Game of Colonialism and further nationalism to be decolonized from the "Left"
"The antiglobalization movement was the first step on the road. Back then our model was to attack the system like a pack of wolves. There was an alpha male, a wolf who led the pack, and those who followed behind. Now the model has evolved. Today we are one big swarm of people." - Raimundo Viejo, Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain
Of the Occupy Movement, filmmaker Michael Moore said, ""This is literally an uprising of people who have had it. It has already started to spread across the country in other cities. It will continue to spread. ... It will be tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands of people ... Their work ahead is not as difficult as other movements in the past ... The majority of Americans are really upset at Wall Street ... So you have already got an army of Americans who are just waiting for somebody to do something, and something has started."

Hi Krystalline,
Greetings and solidarity from Guelph. I noticed that you don't have the event happening here on your list. It will be on Saturday October 15th at 4:30pm in St. Georges Square. Here's the facebook event page:
https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=258639724172026
I hope that it can get added to your list.
Thanks, Kevin
Can these old CAPP groups be used to help organize?
Step 2 - Join your local chapter, post nationally, act locally.
Please join a one of the many FaceBook subgroups of a city / regional area that is the closest to where you live. These regional groups are not intended to replace CAPP in any way, shape or form. They're sub-chapters of CAPP to help facilitate planning.

- then click tab link called "local chapters"
there's also a new 'Occupy(ed) Canada' FB page:

Hi, A lot of us are realizing that the "Occupy Canada" FB page is not very canadian (or open to discourse!).. some of us are trying to offer a more open, and pan canadian FB page to link up and share our voices.
Please Update the link on your article to reflect this!

I follow your posts and really appreciate your contributions. I was hoping you could give notice about a forum taking place this Monday in Montreal. It's the fourth Forum to Resist the Conservatives. It would be great to get it online soon, if possible. I can email you the full details, but can't find your address. You can reach me at: brett [dot] matthew [at] yahoo [dot] ca
Regards, Matt
@fluidity I hear ya, and I am working on a piece about that as we speak...err type.
"Occupy Canada" is doing a good job of censoring any discussion of how Canada may already be 'occupied' land on their Facebook page, along with other comments that they don't like, like criticism of the following pledge they posted: "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and The Charter Rights and Freedoms in Canada against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will disobey the orders of the President of the United States , the prime Minister and everyone who works on behalf of the criminal banking cartel. So help me God."
with all due respect Raimundo Viejo depiction of the alterglobalization movement is incorrect, sensationalist and inappropriate. it is also disrespectful to the work that people did that paved the way for this round of struggle.
