Occupy Toronto Free School presents World Revolutions: A Teach-in

The Deets:

Saturday January 14, 2012
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Friends House (Quaker Meeting House), 60 Lowther Street
Toronto, ON

The Call Out:

Occupy Toronto Free School makes its 2012 debut: we may be out of the park, but we’re still learning! Come educate yourself and others.

All over the world people are rising up against the failed capitalist system and demanding alternatives. Join us as we connect the Occupy Toronto movement to the Latin American revolution, the Middle East revolution and the popular anti-capitalist struggles in Europe. Come discuss the successes of revolutions around the world, and how different activist methods can be applied and adapted to Canada.

There will be snacks (veggies, muffins, and tea), and a kids zone!

Moderator: Charles Roach – Toronto community mobilizer

Speakers
Roxy Cohen of the Occupy Toronto movement.
Maria Paez Victor of the Louis Riel Bolivarian Circle of Toronto on the Latin American Revolution.
Carles Muntaner from Spain on Europe.
Asad Ismi, International Affairs Correspondent for The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives Monitor, on the Middle East Revolution

Schedule for the evening:
The moderator will welcome us to the space.
Each speaker will give a 10-minute-maximum speech.
Then, we will break out into 4 groups for discussions, one speaker in each.
We will then come back together for a report back and closing remarks.
This a participatory event — you are expected (but not forced) to contribute to the discussions.

This event is being hosted by the Quaker Peace and Social Action Committee
