KI Speaks Out Against God’s Lake Resources and McGuinty government. Join us at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada’s Annual Convention at 255 Front St. W. at 12:30 p.m. on March 6!
Come early at 11:30 to participate in the Mining Injustice Solidarity Network actions.
Community leaders from Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) Nation will be in Toronto at a public talk on March 5 followed by a rally on March 6 to demand that God’s Lake Resources Inc (GLR) stop exploration on sacred burial grounds in their community and that Ontario cease all mining and exploration on KI Lands and respect KI’s Water Declaration
This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to hear directly from the leadership from a community that is struggling to control and care for their homeland.
In 2008 Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) Chief Donny Morris, and five community leaders went to jail for refusing to allow mining exploration on their lands. With tremendous support from across Ontario, this remote First Nation community succeeded in fighting off mining exploration by Platinex. On March 5 and 6, come out to ensure that GLR is also stopped and that Ontario puts an end to infringement on KI Lands once and for all. Spread the word about these two events.
The panel and video launch on March 5 is organized by CUPE 3902, OPIRG U of T, the University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union, Earthrootsand the Christian Peacemaker Teams.
Events are also endorsed by: Mining Watch Canada, Ontario Federation of Labour, Public Services Alliance of Canada — Ontario and Council of Canadians.
