Activist Communique: Idle No More – Wednesday in Peterborough

Idle No More – Wednesday in Peterborough

The Deets:

Wednesday December 19, 2012

2:30 pm until 4:30 pm

Peterborough, Ontario

The Call Out:

This is a Peaceful Protest to show support for Indigenous nations, Indigenous people, their rights, and the legal obligations of treaties (which Canadians and Indigenous peoples are signatories of).

We will rally between 2 and 2:30 at the corner of Clonsillla and Lansdowne St. W. From here will we walk to Dean Del Mastro's Constituency Office at 1600 Lansdowne St. West. (In order to keep this peaceful and proper we will need to stick to the sidewalks and grass rather then the parking lots at his office.

Speakers will include Elder Shirley Williams as well as role models in the territory. We are hopeful to obtain speakers from Curve Lake, Hiawatha, as well as Alderville.

It is time to continue the work of our elders and ancestors and show the Canadian government that it can not continue to impose upon us or implement policies without proper and dutiful consultation!

See you all there - Chi-Migwetch!
